ESTIMATOR
A leading custom exhibit and trade show fabrication company in the Chicago area is seeking an Estimator to join its growing team. This role sits at the center of the pre-production process, translating client requirements and design concepts into accurate, competitive project pricing. The ideal candidate understands the pace and complexity of exhibit fabrication and can manage multiple estimates simultaneously while working closely with sales, design, and production teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare detailed cost estimates for custom exhibit and trade show projects from concept through final proposal.
Review drawings, specifications, and client requirements to determine labor, material, and fabrication costs.
Collaborate with sales, design, and production teams to align scope, budget, and timeline expectations.
Source and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing for materials and specialty services.
Maintain accurate historical cost data to improve estimating accuracy over time.
Identify potential risks or cost overruns and flag them early in the proposal process.
Prepare clear, organized proposals and bid documents for client review.
Track and update estimates as project scope or specifications change.
Support handoff to project management with accurate scope and budget documentation.
REQUIREMENTS
3–5 years of estimating experience in exhibit fabrication, events, or similar environments.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical documentation.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
Working knowledge of fabrication processes including carpentry, graphics, and tension fabric systems.
Clear communication across internal teams and with vendors when needed.
Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously under deadline pressure.
Familiarity with estimating or project management software and workflows.
Strong follow-through and problem-solving skills.
