CAD Detailer
This role sits within a fast-paced custom fabrication environment that produces high-end exhibits and experiential structures. The team works at the intersection of design, engineering, and production; bringing complex concepts to life through precision detailing and collaboration with in-house fabrication teams.
The CAD Detailer translates creative intent into buildable shop drawings, ensuring projects move efficiently from concept to production. This position plays a critical role in aligning design vision with real-world fabrication.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Convert design concepts, renderings, and 3D models into accurate 2D shop drawings
Develop detailed part files, assembly drawings, and exploded views
Create material take-offs and cut lists to support fabrication
Specify materials including wood, metal, acrylics, foam, and specialty components
Collaborate with project managers, designers, and fabrication teams to align on scope and build approach
Address redlines, revisions, and design changes throughout the project lifecycle
Ensure drawings support structural integrity, safety, and production efficiency
Maintain organized drawing sets, revision control, and documentation
Prepare drawing packages for shop use, including CNC-ready files where applicable
REQUIREMENTS
3+ years of CAD detailing experience in exhibits, scenic fabrication, millwork, or architectural production
Proficiency in AutoCAD (required)
Experience with Rhino, SolidWorks, Revit, or SketchUp preferred
Millwork experience required; CNC programming experience is a plus
Working knowledge of fabrication materials and construction methods
Ability to translate design intent into accurate, buildable drawings
Strong problem-solving skills and technical mindset
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects
Clear communicator comfortable working across design and production teams
